Pairing Food With White Wine Of The Finest of Wines:

Here are great ways to pair your wine with food and understand the flavors in your food. This will give you a general idea on what will go with what… and then, your wine and food will pop! Once you understand how each wine and food pairing tastes to you, have fun experimenting! Each person has unique taste buds so what you like is different than what I like. The ultimate luxury is creating what you love for you and your family.

Here are some of my favorites wines I love and enjoy with my family and friends. I hope you enjoy them just as much as I do too.

Sparkling Whites: we all think its just champagne to celebrate. But actually, it can be paired with food! Crazy, right? Here are just some from the list. 

  • Brie, Macaroni & Cheese, Popcorn, Potato Chips
  • Shellfish, Smoked Salmon, Eggs Benedict
  • Stuffed mushroom, Potato Skins, Risotto
  • Cream Sauces, Mushrooms Sauces
  • Berries, Pound Cake

Pinot Grigio: is a dry, light-bodied wine with aromas of lemon-lime, pear and stone fruit like peach and apricot. The  flavors can range from melon to green apple or subtle for tropical or citrus fruits. Here are some great ideas to pair this wine with

  • Salads, Pastas , Fish Tacos
  • Almonds, pecans, Gouda
  • Oysters, Scallops, Sea Bass
  • Chili pepper dish Thai, Ginger, BBQ Sauce
  • Pumpkin Pie, Caramel Sauce, Apple Pie

Sauvignon Blanc AKA More Than Muse is a light: crisp and acidic wine that pairs with lighter foods. Here are some great ideas to pair with

  • Goat Cheese, Smoked Gouda, Brie, Feta Cheese
  • Chicken, Turkey, Scallops, Sushi, Lobster, White Fish
  • Light Pasta Dishes, Fresh Herbs, Light Cream Sauces
  • Key Lime Pie

Pinot Noir: is a lighter red wine that has more fruit forward flavor than other red wines. It’s a light weight wine that stands up to Meats and even fish. Here are some great ideas to pair with 

  • Asiago, Brie, Havarti
  • Duck, Lamb, Sea Bass, Salmon
  • Mushrooms, Strawberries, Dried Fruits, Truffle, Cinnamon, Orange
  • Cream Sauce or Lighter Red Sauce
  • Chocolate Dishes, White Chocolate

Shiraz/Syrah: also a note of fruit, also a lingering pepper taste. Great paired with spicy foods or international food like

  • Indian, Thai Foods 
  • Cheddar, Hazelnuts, Walnuts, Pepper Jack Cheese
  • Spicy Sausage, Chorizo, Gamey Meats, Salmon
  • Stewed Tomatoes, Shishito Peppers

Merlot has a hit of fruit, a bit herbaceous in flavor, not as tannin as Cabernet Sauvignon. The great dishes to pair with

  • Caramelized Onions, Tomatoes, Plums, Roasted Vegetables, Stuffed Mushrooms
